About Us

The San Antonio Police Department’s Public Safety Corps (PSC) program is a gateway to a career in law enforcement. It is designed to acquaint youth with the complexity of law enforcement and introduce them to police operations and procedures.  The program builds character, develops leadership skills, helps to gain an appreciation for community service, and develops good citizenship.

To be a member of the PSC,  you must:

  • Be between the ages of 14 and 21

  • Have completed the 8th grade

  • Be in good health

  • Pass a background check

  • Pass a physical fitness test

  • Complete Basic PSC Training

  • Attend meetings once a week (Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm)

SAPD PSC posts are available at all six substations around the city (Central, East, North, Northwest, South, and West).  An SAPD officer assigned to the S.A.F.F.E.
